    “谢谢。”一个人说完就走了。这位男士刚刚入睡，又被一阵敲窗声吵醒了。

    “现在几点了？”一位徒步者问。

    “8点25分。”男士觉得很烦，便在窗户上贴了一张字条，上面写着：“我不知道现在几点了！”

    又有人敲车窗！他再一次被吵醒。

    他生气地摇下车窗。

    “什么事？”他冲着站在那里的一个孩子喊道。

    “现在是8点45分。”

    史密斯先生送给妻子10张崭新的1英镑钞票作为生日礼物。生日过后，史密斯太太就去购物了。她排队坐公交车，上车后坐在一位老太太的旁边。过了一会儿，她注意到那个老太太的包打开了。她看到了一叠1英镑的钞票，像极了丈夫送给她的那些。于是她立刻看了一下自己的包——钱不见了！史密斯太太认定是坐在她旁边的这位老太太偷的。她想她应该报警，可是，又不想大惊小怪地给大家惹麻烦，于是她决定一声不响地把钱从老太太的包里拿回来。她看了一下周围，确定没有人注意她，便悄悄地把手伸进了老太太的包里，把钱拿出来放进了自己的包里。

    晚上回到家后，她把新买的那顶漂亮的帽子拿给她的丈夫看。

    “你用什么钱买的？”丈夫问。

    “当然是用我生日时你送给我的钱啦。”

    “啊？可是，那又是什么？”他说着，指了指桌上放着的那叠10英镑的钞票。
